Sep – International Youth Tech Olympics
The University of Manchester Worldwide East Asia Centre has been sponsoring the World Educational Robot Contest since 2020 in alignment with the university's strategic goal – Future of Education.
In 2022, the International Youth Tech Olympics 2022 final contests and the Award Ceremony were held in Hong Kong Productivity Council Inno Space. The objective of the event is to promote the students’ interest in STEAM and to develop their innovative and problem-solving abilities, hopefully resulting in their becoming our future engineers and scientists. This year more than 100 schools and 700 students aged from 8 to 18 participated. The event includes multiple contests including robotics, Drone, Game coding, AI and AR and IoT contests.
Mr Chan Shun Yan, GMBA alumnus, founder of WER Hong Kong and a member of the Organizing Committee has been co-hosting the contests with many other NGOs including UNESCO and the Rotary club of Abacus Hong Kong.
